Redemption

What does a husband have to do to make it up to his wife for doing nothing for her 30th birthday?

Giving her a diamond ring for Christmas will do the trick.

The picture doesn't do it justice.

Too Cute to Not Post

There's just something that I love about these pictures.

Does Your Husband Read Your Blog?

Greg does not read this blog. That's right, Greg does not even look at the Greg and Nichole blog. At first he did, I'd bring it up on the computer and tell him I had a new post and have him read it. But I eventually got tired of forcing him to do it and he didn't do it on his own. If he had a blog I'd love to read it, to see what is going through his head. I would check it everyday. Probably twice a day. I would check it even when I knew there was nothing new just so I could re-read the things he wrote.

So why doesn't he read mine?

Is it a guy thing? Or is it a Greg thing? Does your husband read your blog?

Christmastime is Here!

This weekend was a Christmas kick-off for our family. On Saturday we went and cut down our Christmas tree from a local tree farm (The book I'm reading, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, has made me all about supporting local farmers. It's a fascinating read. If you read it let me know. I'm dying for someone to talk to about it!). Greg is always determined to find the perfect tree and the kids and I just want to get one and get out of the cold. I think he is more picky about finding a tree than he was when choosing a wife.

This is them with "The One."

Later that day I took Carolyn and Molly to see The Nutcracker at the community college. Carolyn liked it and Molly was bored. She said, "I'm tired of just sitting here." So much for trying to expose them to some culture! Maybe when they're older we'll spend a little more money and go into the city to see it.

On Sunday after church and naps we decorated the tree and that night we went over to a friend's house and watched the First Presidency Christmas devotional.

We've been collecting ornaments since we got married of events in our life and places we've been. These are the ornaments that are hung by me at the top of the tree, out of reach of little hands. We only had one new ornament this year--Emma's baby one. I have one for each of my babies and I think hers is my favorite. It has places on the bottom to write in her name and birth stats. I got it last summer at the beach. Vacation destinations are the best place to buy these ornaments because there's always a Christmas store there.

Here are a few of my other favorite ornaments:

The one with the bird is from Lancaster, PA. It's actually supposed to be a suncatcher instead of an ornament. Sometimes we can't find an ornament we like for a certain place so we buy a non-ornament souvenir and put it on our tree.
