Carolyn's Blog

Feeling inspired by her friend Christian, Carolyn has started her own blog. You can find it here:

creativecarolyn.blogspot.com.

Mmmm...

Does anything say "love" more than chocolate-covered strawberries? I think I will leave some on Greg's pillow tonight for when he gets back from the youth temple trip. Don't worry about the surprise being ruined. Greg doesn't read this blog, remember?

It's Official

Our home is finally for sale. We could have gone on forever fixing every little imperfection but we finally had to say enough is enough and just put it on the market. We got a lot done though and I think it shows well.

Here's the bad news...

the house right next door to us is also for sale. Yikes! Now I guess we just wait and see what happens.

Dry Milk Whipped Topping

Did you know that you can make whipped topping out of dry milk? I found the recipe at Safely Gathered In awhile ago and I finally tried it. It really works! It's a fat-free alternative to whipped cream and I figure it's more natural than Cool Whip. Here's the recipe:

Whipped Topping

Mix 1/2 cup dry milk with 1/2 cup cold water. Beat to soft peak stage - about 4 minutes at medium-high speed on electric mixer. Add 1/2 tsp. lemon or vanilla extract and beat 6-7 minutes at same speed. Add 2 T sugar and beat 1 minute at same speed.

At that site they also had a great idea for 72-hour kits that I had never heard before. You buy a t-shirt for each family member in the same color. Try to get an unusual color. Then put a different number on each one on the front and back. If there is an emergency you can all put on your shirts and if you get separated it will help you find each other. Or, if a child gets lost you can ask people if they've seen a little girl wearing a neon green shirt with a "3" on it. People will remember seeing that more than a princess shirt or something. Go here if you want to see the actual post for a better explanation.

If you would like to do this for your family's 72-hour kits, Michael's has t-shirts on sale this week for only $1.99 each. I think that's pretty much as good as it gets price-wise. I've been watching the ads for a couple months and you know me, I don't like to spend more than I have to.

I was uploading pictures today from Easter and actually laughed out loud at the set of shots we got. Here are some...enjoy! (My mom made those dresses, by the way.)

Happy Birthday Molly Moo!

Molly, my only brown-eyed girl, you were such an easy baby. I couldn't believe that you actually liked to take naps. What a blessing.

I kept waiting for you to hit the terrible two's but you never did. It was a terrific two's instead.

You've always had such a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. I love how generous and kind you are.

You're growing up so fast. I can't believe you're six now. You're such an important part of our family and you are so good to your sisters. I love you, Snuggle Bug!
