We're Here!

We're finally all moved in our new house and not at all settled in. It's starting to feel more like home, instead of feeling like we're hanging out at someone else's house. But it still doesn't have that "my house" smell yet. Or will the smell of this house become the new "my house" smell? Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Anyway, we LOVE it. The bus stop is right across the street. This makes me so happy. I can watch the big kids at the bus stop from my front door while staying at home with the little ones. My camera is still broken and I still haven't bought a new one. That means no pictures to post. But I will get one soon. I already missed getting pictures of the first day of school. I just haven't found a great deal on one yet.

Greg bought himself a lawn tractor and, for the first time ever, is really enjoying mowing the lawn. I don't think you'll ever see our yard with overgrown grass. I ordered a hammock to hang between our awesome trees. Hopefully it will be here soon so we can enjoy this amazing weather!

On new house smells: makes complete sense. One of my favorite things is to be gone for a few days, come home, and take a deep breath, and think about what that smell tells about my home--what scents stand out (hopefully it isn't garbage from the kitchen that we forgot to take out before a trip!). I am fascinated by the choices we make about cleaners and air fresheners (or not) and how that all mixes together to create a signature.

My grandma's house always smelled like spicy Mexican food (she served missions in Peru and later in Guatamala). Someone I know has a home that always smells like clean clothes--that dryer sheet smell. Another smells like windex (did I interrupt cleaning windows?) whenever I walk in. Another like cupcakes and yummy vanilla things. Rather not mention the pet-smelling homes. Baby smells are okay, though, that just means you are busy mothering!

Maybe some people are more smell concious? Scent-sensitive?

TiffanyR showed me her almond-wood cleaner from Target that I love LOVE love. I like Jergen's lotion for the cherry-almond smell, too. So if I could pick one thing I would want to smell walking in my house: almonds. How do I tell Glade/Febreeze/Renuzit that I would buy that one?

I miss talking to you and seeing you! Long blog comments are better than no contact! Keep writing! And good look with camera shopping!
